Jerry Vasconcellos 2016
Wood and stone sculptor Jerry Vasconcellos visited Jill Johnson’s high school art classroom Friday, August 26, to talk about his work. Vasconcellos has been carving stone for more than 35 years. "The stone of an area is that area,” he says on his website. “I love the connection I get from carving a part of the land. When I carve Hawaiian basalt, I feel very connected to my homeland. When I carve stone from a trip I connect with the area of that trip."
